Welcome to the SEPTA Key Student Fare Card Program
SEPTA is happy to work with the various School Districts in Southeastern Pennsylvania to help students eligible for transportation. The School Districts in which a student resides is responsible for the student's transportation to and from school, within the guidelines set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Student fares are available to all school districts within the SEPTA service area. The information below will be in effect for the upcoming 2021-22 Academic year, it does not apply to students attending summer programs.
The initial distribution of Key Student Fare Cards will occur during the first few days of schools. School Administrators will assign cards to students and transmit the card number to activate the card. The same card will be used throughout the school year; underclasspersons may continue to use the same Student Key Card during the next school year.
There is no cost to the Student or Parent/Guardian for this card, which can be used for travel on bus, trolley & subway.

Lost or stolen cards must be reported to your School’s Administrator to get a replacement
School Districts will determine the travel rights for each card defining both the number of daily trips and if the card is valid on Regional Rail. Students receiving cards without Regional Rail trips can upgrade their card each week at one of nine (9) SEPTA Sales locations listed below. The upgrade fee is about $10.00 per week and it is recommended that students complete the upgrade before the valid week of class.
